Work With Us-old

From small beginnings over 30 years ago, UMFC has grown into an independent vibrant and diverse organisation with the mission of Strengthening families to build vibrant communities.

We are a non-government, locally managed Agency made up of a Board of Management, a senior management group, a workforce of approximately 130 staff and many dozens of amazing volunteers. The collective knowledge, skill and experience of this team enables the delivery of high quality services that are responsive to the varying needs of communities extending from the cities of Albury/Wodonga, Wangaratta and Benalla to townships throughout the Towong, Mansfield, Alpine and Indigo Shires, as well as the Murray Riverina.

Volunteers Supporting People with a Disability

Volunteer now and make a difference

Volunteering with Interchange is a great way to get involved, learn new skills, have heaps of fun and share new experiences.

Our Host and Big Buddy programs provide opportunities to match you with a young person to share an afternoon together, or to come and stay with you and your family on a regular basis, maybe once a month.

Interchange runs group activities that provide fun opportunities to support children and young people, and their families. Volunteers from 15 years can be involved in these groups, and students find valuable experiences through involvement with developing their own skills and learning.

Student Placement

student-placement

UMFC has a strong history of and commitment to providing quality learning opportunities to students by providing placements in a variety of settings across the organisation.

We work collaboratively with educational institutions to ensure that students on placement have the necessary skills, knowledge, and support to undertake their roles effectively and achieve a satisfactory placement outcome.

We will:

  • Provide students on placement with the opportunity to gain field experience relating to their chosen profession
  • Promote an appreciation of the importance of providing supportive services to families of all types to strengthen the nurture of children and the identity of the individual
  • Ensure that the rights of clients to privacy and confidentiality are maintained
  • Empower clients to make informed choices about students’ attendance or involvement in their agency activities
  • Look after student wellbeing while on placement

We have a limited number of placement opportunities each year and generally experience a high level of interest  from students attending a number of local tertiary institution. We encourage you to express your placement  interest early to your course coordinator. It is not our practice to take expressions of interest from student themselves, but rather work with the Learning Institution Coordinators to meet as many placement needs as possible.

We acknowledge their culture is a living one, which relates to their ongoing connection to all things living and non-living on land, sea and sky. We pay our respect to their elders past and present. May our children of today lead us to a better tomorrow.
